I may or may not have bribed all of my students to bring me their box tops even if they weren't in my homeroom just so I could win.
So, this past Thursday, the PTO brought doughnuts to my 2nd period class.
I have 26 students.
They brought me 6 dozen doughnuts.
6 dozen. For 26 kids.
That's a lot of doughnuts.
For some reason, I didn't think until another teacher mentioned it that it would have been smart to spread those 72 doughnuts out across all of my classes.
That's right. I fed 26 students 72 doughnuts at 10:00 in the morning.
After they had all had two, I made them work for the extras.
They were probability solving fools on Thursday.
At the end of class, one boy was sitting in his seat, wide eyed, almost convulsing from so much sugar, screaming, "I'VE HAD THREE DOUGHNUTS!!!!"
Another boy exclaimed, "Well, I won't be falling asleep in Language Arts today!"
I happily sent them on their way to third period as quickly as possible.
Thursday was also the birthday of another teacher on my team. So, I made cupcakes for the teachers to share at lunch.

One girl was very clever with her comeback. She said, "Well, what if you split them in half. Then, it would be like a math problem!"
Good idea. Well stated. But, NO.
