EOG Time!

Today we started EOGs...aka 2 days of silent test taking for 4 hours each day. I can't complain; 8th graders have 4 days of testing this week and then one more day the next week.

We are down to 9 8 school days! Not that I'm counting down or anything... ;)

I was reading back through posts from last year when we were at this point. We are way closer to the end this year.

Since we have new standards this year, we also have a new test. Having a new test means we won't get our scores back for several months. That means we won't know who failed, which means we won't know who to re-mediate and re-test. So, we got to push the tests back farther this year since we couldn't block in time for remediation and re-tests.

Doing that has made these past few weeks not as brutal because we have still been doing work. The students don't fully check out until after EOGs. I will only have to babysit 3.5 days this year instead of 2-3 weeks!

Don't worry I still have my coloring sheets ready to go!

Hanging everything back on the wall last year was such a pain. Then, I had to move it all when I got my Brightlink this year. So, instead of taking everything down this year, I just covered it up. I didn't want random sheets of poster paper plainly hanging on my wall so I covered them with encouraging quotes. Hopefully they will provide some encouragement and/or inspiration during their 14 hours of testing over the next two weeks!

Our pool opened this weekend, which meant it was Memorial Day. Memorial Day is always such a sweet taste of the summer that is almost here! The weather was great and a day off is always appreciated! I so enjoyed not having to rush to bed at 9 Sunday night and getting to sleep in Monday morning!
We got to spend the day on the lake, which was amazing despite the sunburn that I got. (Note to self: Don't lecture your students about wearing sunscreen so they won't be burnt for EOGs and then get sunburned yourself...it isn't so much fun)

This weekend was the first weekend that I have been home with no plans in well over a month. Our apartment was in desperate need of some deep cleaning. Saturday I spent the day vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, moping, scrubbing the bathrooms...you know, all of those fun tasks that everyone loves. I do have to say it feels so nice to have a clean place. It looks and smells so nice when it's clean. The trick is figuring out how to keep it that way!
