Stephen and I went camping with our small group last weekend.
It was the first weekend in May...
And, it was COLD!!
I hate having my face covered when I sleep, but it was so cold, I had to use my breath as heat in my sleeping bag.
Where is spring?!?
Despite the unseasonably cold weather, we had a blast!
We got there Friday night, set up camp, and enjoyed s'mores and fellowship around the fire.
Saturday, we got up, had bacon and eggs, packed up camp and headed out to do some hiking and rock climbing.
We were at Pilot Mountain where rock climbing is a regular hobby. A couple with us have been climbing for almost 10 years and were able to show us the ropes...(pun intended)
I've developed this new fear of heights. I know in my head there is nothing to be afraid of, but my knees shake and palms get sweaty despite my logical thoughts of no fear. Watching everyone at the first climb made my palms sweaty and I decided to not climb. Instead, I snuggled with this cutie.
Stephen totally beasted the first climb. I was super proud of his manly skills!
Later we moved to a different spot to climb. This one didn't look quite as scary and I had had time for my fears to lessen some. So, I decided to give it a try. Much my surprise and everyone else, I scurried on up that rock all the way to the top! I got to the top a lot faster than I thought. I didn't realize how high I was until I turned and looked down. Good thing I was at the top because my knees got a little shaky looking down.
We had a blast and can't wait to go again!
Now, if only the sun would make an appearance for this spring that we're supposed to be having.
I haven't seen the sun since I was in Florida...I need some vitamin D!
