So Close...

I'm not gonna lie...babysitting teaching after EOGs is not fun.

The kids who failed and are having to review again don't want to be there any more than I do. Especially those who have done nothing all year and really don't care that they got a 1.

To make my review groups a little more effective, I punished myself was smart and put all of the students who did really poorly in one group and all of the ones that were close to passing in another group.

My group that almost passed is great and I really think a lot of them will get that 3 this next time.

My group that, let's be honest, has no chance is rough.
They are uninterested and disengaged.

At this point, I don't know what else to do with them. I'm exhausted and easily frustrated. It took us 40 minutes today to do 10 problems. T.E.N. problems.

Then, I'm supposed to be doing enrichment with those that passed the EOGs, which in theory is an awesome idea.

However, they are completely checked out. Listening to me teach them is the last thing that they want to do.

So, I'm babysitting.

I've created the "Silent Lunch" game. After I start the game, whoever gets out of their seat without permission gets silent lunch. For the most part, this keeps them in their seats. If they're in their seats, they are at least contained at somewhat of a normal volume level. That's all I can ask for right now.

It gets pretty entertaining because some of my students have the memory span of a gold fish. Their classmates think it's hilarious when they get silent lunch. And, it's even funnier if they get another day for getting up again.

7.5 days...
