The Little Things

Sometimes I forget to stop and enjoy or celebrate the small things that happen throughout my week. This week, I will not forget!

The weather has been AMAZING!

I won my first battle with a student...stayed consistent, didn't let him argue with me, and got him to do what I asked without further consequence. Score!

I have worked out it some way 4 out of the 5 days this week.

I hung curtains in my classroom this week...curtains make things seem so much more cozy. (Still forgot my camera)

My classroom and all of the little things that have to be done at the beginning of the school year are complete.

I got to go shopping and have a sleep over with my sister.

Stephen and I went on a date Thursday night to my favorite mexican restaurant, visited my parents, and ended with dessert at Chick-Fil-A. Have you had their cookies??

My lesson plans and grading are done for next week. AKA no school work for me this weekend!

We didn't have to be in meetings for 3 hours during our early release day this week.

I got a new pencil sharpener that sharpens pencils instead of eats them.

I had dinner with some great friends Tuesday night.

I got a brand spankin' new computer at school AND got all of the technology on it set up by myself.

When I stop and remember all of the small things, it really has been a good week! The only thing that could have made it better was if I got to teach outside this week. But, I think my students and I would have been way too distracted.

Funny Quotes:
We are still practicing adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals...without calculators. I was helping one of my students with a long division problem. He had divided, multiplied, and was at the subtracting step. I asked him what 18-12 was and he said 1. I said if you have $18 and spent $12, you would have $1 left. He said yes...? So, I told him I was going to start going shopping with him and just take all of his change from his purchases that he counts wrong. His response was, "No no no no no...my mom was just buying sugar." (WHAT?!?) He kept working and I walked away...

"Mrs. Snyder, how did I do on my homework from last night?"
"I don't know you haven't turned in yet."
"I know I was doing it this morning in your class...I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right."
"Okay...I don't know if you're doing it right because you haven't turned it in yet."
"Wait...I'm confused. How do you do this?"
......????

A student came up to turn in an assignment from the first week of school. It was crumpled up, ripped a little, and discolored from maybe getting wet from something...I'm not really sure. When I asked the student what happened, he said with a solemn face, "...car accident." I felt bad and said, "Oh no I'm so sorry when did you all get in a car accident?" He said, "Well, actually it was just a paper accident." And, then he smiled and asked for another copy.
