DIY Project

This picture inspired my most recent crafting project.

I saw it on Pinterest and wanted it for above my couch. I've been waiting to find the right thing to go above it ever since we moved in. We didn't want to paint the walls at our new place so we don't have to re-paint whenever we move out so I didn't want to hang the windows that were in our old place because that would have been white against off white. When I saw this, I knew it was the perfect project and it seemed fairly simple aka possible for me to create myself...with the help of my sister of course because she's good like that! We went out and bought canvas, tape, and paint and worked for several hours last night. We painted and re-painted to get the sections just right. Pulling the tape off is so fun when it turns out this good.

I must admit I am a little obsessed with how they turned out...This picture below makes the wall look really big, but they fill the space up perfectly. These are probably in my top three favorite things in our apartment along with this and this.

And here are a few close ups so you can see the detail. We tried to pull in colors from the accent pillows I have and some things I already have on the wall. I didn't want them to end up looking too dark so we used a lot more yellow and green than red and brown.  It doesn't quite match with my bright blue board by the front door so I might have to take that down and re-paint it, but for now it's just going to have to work.
