Labor Day

Labor Day is great!

Teachers especially love Labor Day as it gives us a break a week or two into the school year...right when the exhaustion is setting in!

The tradition has always been to go to Grandma's for the weekend. There is a huge flea market in Hillsville, VA every Labor Day that dad and Pa love to go to. Sometimes they can coerce others to join them, but they love to go every year.

With Stephen being on staff at a church now, we couldn't spend the whole weekend at Grandma's, but we got there for supper Friday night and spent all day there Saturday.
 Dinner...complete with selfies... :)
Stephen got roped into going to Hillsville this year.
Just thinks rows and rows and streets and streets full of junk. Or, as Pa and Dad say, Treasures.
Then, we convinced Mom and Dad to come back to Morganton with us for Sunday and Monday. Getting our schedules to match up for a weekend for them to come visit us in our new home and at our new church was not working out so well. But, this worked out perfectly!
They got to come to church with us Sunday morning, hang out in town with us, and even helped us with some house projects! (Not sure dad and Stephen were so thrilled about the working piece ;))
Most of the outlets in the house were the original outlets (left). First of all, they were only double prong and a lot of plugs these days are triple. The major problem was plugs would literally fall out of the outlet if bumped. I have this fear of my house burning down so I was not a fan of dangling plugs in outlets...especially by our bed.
We tried to do a few other projects, but ran into some road blocks that we weren't willing to tackle. Like a leak under the sink. We called in the home owners for that one. But, my dad and the genius that he is, had this great idea below.
Out bathroom door would not stay open. It's already a tiny spot anyway...with a door constantly banging into you, it was not fun. So, dad suggested this stopper and it is great!

I'm still mad mom didn't bring this sweet thing to see me, but I'm getting over it...slowly.
I'll get to see him in a couple of weeks at Grandmas.

We had a great weekend. Long weekends make for short work weeks and I like it! :)
