Let me just give you a quick re-cap of the past three weeks of my life.
When some good friends of ours told us they were going to be hosting a 5k as part of their wedding weekend activities, I started training for it.
So, on Oct 5 I ran my first 5K.
Then, I guess to prepare me for the craziness that was getting ready to ensue, the next week was rainy and cold. So, I only got one run in when I had been averaging 3 runs a week. I've slowly come to love running, but I'm not hard core enough to run in the cold rain yet.
During the crazy cold rain week, I learned that one of my good friends is really sick and would be going into the hospital for treatment for at least the next month. I left that Starbucks date in tears, scared about what I had just learned and all the signs I had overlooked the past 2 years. That was Wednesday.
On Monday (Oct 14), I dropped Stephen off at the airport for a 10 day mission trip half way across the world in Taiwan.
On Tuesday, I went to the funeral home for a girl I grew up with who lost her mom to cancer. This woman has been fighting cancer like a champ for several years. So, while it wasn't a shock to learn of her death, it was still surreal. My friend is my age and just had to bury her mom...
Wednesday I had my first stomach bug since I was in middle school. If you know me at all, you know how much I love throwing up...(sarcasm). Throwing up while your husband is half way across the world is even less fun. Thankfully, my mom came over and took care of me. (Thanks, Mom!)
That night, after being sick, my friend who is sick and now in the hospital disappeared for three hours. No one knew where she was, what she was doing, when she was coming home...nothing. She wouldn't answer phone calls or texts. Thankfully, she eventually took herself home and I finally fell asleep around 11:30pm.
On Saturday (Oct 19), I put my parents and sister on a plane to move Allyson to Haiti for a year.
I moved back into my parents house for the week to house and dog sit.
The next Monday, my friend actually went into the hospital.
Once everyone was where they were supposed to be (Taiwan, Haiti, the hospital), I relaxed as much as possible...except for the two nights the dog woke me up at 3am to go out...It's a good thing he's so cute!
Thursday Stephen got home.
Saturday Mom and Dad got home.
Sunday we found out the main problem with Allyson's house had been fixed!
Today is a much needed teacher workday!
Here's to enjoying life getting back to normal and going into the 2nd nine weeks much more on top of things than the beginning of the year! It's not easy carrying on with life as "normal" while it seems like everyone around you is going through major transitions and seasons in life. I love how God grows and stretches me in times like this. We've definitely spent a lot of time together the past three weeks!
