Young Love

I found this letter on the floor of my classroom the day after Valentine's Day.

J,
I don't know how to ask this because I should've asked you yesterday, but will you be my valentine? I have never asked this question before. I told my step-brother about math class and you want to know what he said: He said, "Did you make a move?" "Did you kiss her?" My answer was, "No." 1. because we were in math class 2. I've never kissed a girl in my life. But I don't stop thinking of YOU and ONLY you. You're that one special person that...doesn't make fun of me or insult. YOU are someone I can count on to be there for me. No G. Not K. No H. YOU! You may think of yourself as stupid, but where's the J I knew last year? She's in HERE (<3). Find here. I know you're not stupid. You are pretty, funny, and SMART. Will you be my valentine? Yes No
PS I look forward to singing with you on the 23rd of February

Gotta love young love. I remember getting a love note like that in the 7th grade from a boy that rode my bus. I told him I didn't want to read it until I got home and then I never responded. I thought not responding would get me out of the questioning, but that just meant I had to tell him in person that I wasn't interested. Awkward.

On Friday, one of my girls shared that she was getting to see a friend that she hadn't seen in several years this weekend. Another student asked how she even got in touch with her if she hasn't seen her in a few years? We began to explain how you do that: Facebook, email, phone call, etc. Then he wanted to know how she got her number. I said she could have looked it up in a phone book. He asked confused, "A PHONE BOOK?!?" I said, "Oh yea, you're too young to know what that is." He said, "I know what a phone book is, but if you're going to use that, you might as well use the yellow pages on the internet." I feel old.

Pray hard for some snow Sunday night!!
