COVID Quarantine: Weeks 4-6

Week 4:
I felt like we were getting into a groove and getting used to the stay at home order. Things really didn't feel weird unless you went somewhere. I do remember in the stores for the first time noticing people actively turning away from me if I walked too closely to them. Seeing everyone intentionally social distancing was weird and hard to get used to.

Everyone talked about quarantine snacks and the "must haves" to survive quarantine. My biggest craving was sweet tea.

Remembering what day it was and when the last time I showered became a real problem. When your husband tells you that you stink, it's probably been just slightly too long since you've had a shower.

Jessica and I continued to hustle on our Fitbits and that kept me moving, which I really needed.

We celebrated Holy Week leading up to Easter with our neighbors.

Virtual church, youth group, and small group continued.

My postpartum hair loss started this week and maternity leave ended. I had been keeping up with school, but didn't have to do anything since I was on maternity leave. It was tricky figuring out how to juggle school and 2 kids. Stephen working from home helped, but it was more stressful than I anticipated. It was hard to adjust to because I didn't have the extra time to "do all the things." Roles flipped a lot on my team from what was the norm when we were actually in the school building. Those who didn't have young kids at home had the time to "do all the things," while those of us with kids had to just let them take that on. I'm so used to doing so much that I felt bad, like I wasn't pulling my weight, but I just did what I could and learned to not stress too much about it.

Week 5:
The week started with Easter and I was really missing church, gathering together to worship.
Easter outfits: Matching PJs instead of matching dresses.

I was really ready to be done at this point and get back to normal.

The news was still stressful so I tried to avoid it.

We kept playing outside and soaked up all of the time we had with our neighbors.

Week 6:
Allyson came! The circumstances that allowed her the flexibility to come weren't ideal, but we loved having her here. She kept saying, " I think I'll go back on..." and we'd always find a reason for why she should stay just a little longer. She was a huge help getting our house ready to sell.

We celebrated our neighbor's 5th birthday with a fun at home birthday party. We laughed because we didn't actually go anywhere or see anyone we hadn't seen everyday for the past 5 weeks, but all of us "got ready" for the birthday. We put on real clothes, did our hair, and all of the moms had make up on.

We still spent as much time outside as possible!

We got brave and did an at home haircut since all barber shops were closed. I did a pretty good job!

We were officially announced at Summit RDU...virtually from our living room in Morganton. Such weird times!
