I'm not a huge goal setter; although, I would like to get better at it. At the beginning of the school year, I made a list of goals. I find it only appropriate to reflect on those goals and maybe even set a few for the summer.
My goals for this past school year:
Run two times a week--Running didn't happen so much, but I did finish p90x.
Coupon--I don't coupon a whole lot, but Stephen and I did sit down and make a budget together and have done fairly well sticking to it. We've already paid off my college loans and are working hard to get the car paid off! I do look through every mailing I get for coupons and use them as often as I can, but I am by no means a great coupon-er.
Try new recipes--done and done! :)
Get plenty of sleep--My bed time stayed very close to 9pm this school year. Having a husband around who is a night owl made it a little more difficult, but I was always in bed by 9:30.
Be planned for the next week before the week starts--Planning this year took so much less time and I was so thankful that. From what I can remember, I always went in prepared for the week. If I wasn't fully prepared, I was only lacking putting together a minor assignment or two.
Be done with school when Stephen gets home each night--Having less planning time helped a lot with this. I wasn't perfect at it, but I tried. It helped that I had several hours in the afternoon before he got home to get things done.
Enter the year with a mind set of a teacher not a camp counselor -- My year with students and behavior was better this year...still not perfect, but I'm learning.
Love on my kids--I really did have a great group of kids this year. There were times where I wasn't the most loving, but overall I loved my kids and they knew it.
Be more involved at school--I was on the school improvement team this year and was at just about every home sporting event.
Eat breakfast every morning--I feel good about the progress I made on this goal. Before, I wasn't eating breakfast at all. While my breakfasts probably weren't the best, I still ate something every morning. I got very good at eating dry cereal in the car. To save time, I would fill up a ziploc bag and eat on it each morning all the way to work. Other than having to re-fill it occasionally, it stayed in the car which meant zero prep time in the morning. I also kept cereal bars at work in my desk to snack on if I got hungry, or bored with my cereal.
Blog once a week--Although all of my blogs weren't about school because there was a time where I didn't want to talk about school this year, I think I still averaged a blog a week.
As you can see, I am already thoroughly enjoying my summer break...staying up late, sleeping in, relaxing during the day. Summer break is one of the reasons I couldn't walk away from teaching...just one, but still an important one. :)
Summer goals coming soon...
i think the last time i went to bed at 930 pm was elementary school. seriously.
