Here We Go...

Well, the 2011-2012 school year has arrived. I keep forgetting that students will actually be in the building tomorrow. The summer was great! It flew by and here we are at the beginning of a new school year. It's crazy!

If you remember, last year I got in my classroom Sunday before open house was on Monday and school started on Wednesday. It was a mad dash to get things ready for the first day of school. It was SO nice this year to have a lot of time in my room to get ready. Everything is laminated this year and fresh! It's wonderful!

Getting used to Mrs. Snyder has been easier than I expected. I only introduced myself wrong last night at open house once. You'd think that would involve me calling myself Ms. Hemric, but no...I introduced myself as the teacher standing beside me. We had been introducing each other all afternoon and I just said, "Hi! I'm Ms. Zenner! ... I mean... no I'm not...I'm Mrs...Mrs. Snyder!" It was so embarrassing, but we just laughed it off.

We didn't mail out any information to students this summer about teams or schedules so if students wanted to know who their teachers are before the first day of school, they had to come to open house. As a result, we had a great turn out at open house. I think we're going to have a really good group of kids. I'm excited!

So now...
My goals for this school year:
Run two times a week (I debated putting this one out there because I hate running, but I started a running program this summer and did pretty well considering all the craziness with planning a wedding and then getting married. When I put my dress pants on last night for open house, I realized I really need to get back to exercising. So, here it is...hopefully I'll stick to it)

Try new recipes
Get plenty of sleep
Be planned for the next week before the week starts
Be done with school when Stephen gets home each night
Enter the year with a mind set of a teacher not a camp counselor
Love on my kids
Be more involved at school
Eat breakfast every morning (This is going to be a tough one! I like my sleep and am not so sure I'll be getting up early to cook breakfast. So, I need something quick and easy. But, I get so tired of cereal bars and stuff like that. But, I know how important it is to eat breakfast. So, if you have any creative, fast, and easy breakfast ideas, please share!)
Blog once a week

And now, welcome to Mrs. Snyder's classroom!
Brand new crayons and colored pencils!
Calculators in their slots ready to go!

I'm on the lightning bolts team this year and I just thought the owl was cute!
Rules to solve word problems. I wish I could take credit for this, but this was all from one of my colleagues, but I love it!

150 spiral notebooks for $1.50? Yes please! Even if I had to go to Staples 6 times in 3 days!
2011-2012 school year, let's go!
