Month by Month: December + Advent 2020

Mail Christmas Cards

Go see the Living Christmas Tree
Thanks to COVID, the Living Christmas Tree was the Celebration of Lights outside this year. We were asked to be apart of the Live Nativity scene one night. We lucked out and got the mildest night in terms of temperature. It was a little rainy, but we got to leave before the storm really rolled in. Then, we got to go back the next night and participate. Chloe loved it!

Chick-Fil-A Date Night
We never need an excuse for Chick-Fil-A, but I think our Chick-Fil-A in December ended up being more breakfast dates than dinner dates.

Make and Take Gifts to the Neighbors
Chloe helped me make Apple Bread.

Have Friends over for Dinner

Watch a Christmas Movie
Stephen introduced Chloe to The Grinch. She loved it and "The Scary Grinch" ended up being her favorite. We watched it multiple times.

Breakfast for Dinner

Make Cookies
Stephen, Allyson, and I had cookies several evenings in December and then Chloe and Mema had a special cookie making date Christmas Eve.

Make Ornaments

Date Night
Turned into a date day. Mom kept the girls so I could go to the Christmas service at church with Stephen. We got lunch just the two of us and finished Christmas shopping.

Make a Gingerbread House
Or "Gingerman" House as Chloe called it

Wrap Presents
Allyson moved in with us at the end of November. I told her that earned her the privilege of wrapping all of our presents. She loves it so it was a win win. I only had to wrap her presents this year!

Take the Girls to See Santa
Thanks to COVID, seeing Santa didn't happen this year, but Chloe was super excited to mail her letter to him at Cracker Barrel one night.

EKA Christmas

Starbucks Date

Make our Favorite Christmas Snack

Go to the Museum
We had plans to go to the museum with the Stockhams. When we went on to buy tickets, they were sold out. So, plan B turned into a day trip to the zoo. It was so fun! A whole day with some of our favorite people. Chloe was so excited to spend time with David, Jack, and Kate!

Drive Around and Look at Christmas Lights

Try a New Recipe
It wasn't technically a new recipe, but I had never made it before. We made hash brown casserole and sweet potato casserole it was yummy!

Game Night
We had this scheduled for the week after Christmas and then runny noses hit all of us. Thanks to COVID, we had to cancel. Thankfully, we were all negative and it was just a cold.

Read Christmas Books
I started the tradition where you wrap 25 books and open one a night.
Chloe loved it and it helped making waiting for Christmas to get here a little easier.

Go to the Bahama Christmas Parade
Putting this on the Advent Calendar was wishful thinking. Sadly, it didn't happen due to COVID.

Mexican Date Night
We got Mexican with Mema and Poppy before going to Hillridge Farms to see the lights.

Go see the Lights at Hillridge Farms

Christmas morning started with snuggles and Santa waffles.

After breakfast and opening presents, Nana came over to visit.

Christmas with Grandma and Pa
They got snow on Christmas morning and this little girl was so excited about the dusting that was left for us the day after Christmas.
