Snow Day Round 2

It started snowing Thursday night. We spent the day Friday walking around downtown and enjoying the scenery.

On our way home, it started sleeting and it poured sleet and snow for the rest of the night.
Friday the snow was too powdery to do much with, but we knew with the layer of ice it started with and the layer of new sleet and snow, Saturday would be perfect.

This is what we woke up to Saturday morning.

After sleeping in (duh!), we headed out to sled with some friends from church. There are several good spots in Morganton. We're excited to try them all out. We started at Western Piedmont Community College and found a great hill. This was the view we had sledding.

Stephen found a sled at a hardware store on Thursday and we were excited to break it in. He went first. Then I went. Then we decided to go together for a run. This was the result...we didn't want to literally break it!

The walk back up is always the worst part. (Note to self, don't try to run back up after your first ride down...)
Thankfully, our friends had some awesome sleds so our time wasn't done. This was the most epic ride of the day in case you missed it on Facebook!
The aftermath of face planting in the snow...still smiling!
Needless to say we love snow days!
After lunch at McDonald's we went and watched the Duke/State game with some friends and then ended the night with a game night. We had one service at church Sunday, came home to eat lunch real quick, went back for youth, then went over to another friend's house to watch the Panthers play. Thankfully they had already canceled school for today so I could stay up and watch the game. I worked a few hours today and they've already canceled school for tomorrow. Hello, mountain life! (Although, I don't know if that really counts because Durham has been out the same amount of days we have...but I am sure we got way better snow than they did!)
