Paint Nite

One of my goals since last year has been to go to one of those painting classes like Wine and Design. There seems to always be Groupons and Living Social Deals for these. So, when I saw one advertised the other month, I decided to go!

I tried to get Allyson to go with me, but she wasn't interested. A friend from church was though so we bought it.

This one was through Paint Nite, which is very similar to the others I'm sure.

Once we bought our ticket, we looked at all of the upcoming events in our area and picked our favorites. Each event is a different design. I really like that you got to pick your design ahead of time. Once we compared favorites and calendars, we narrowed it down and selected the night we would go. We ended up in Chapel Hill because we didn't like any of the Durham design options.

It ended up being right in the middle of me traveling two weekends in a row and moving, but we still had a blast!

The instructors did a great job. I thought going into it that the image would be penciled in and we would just be painting it. I think that's what Wine & Design does, but not Paint Nite. We showed up to a blank canvas and followed the lead painter's lead. I wasn't so sure how that was going to turn out, but I was really happy with mine.

Here are few pictures throughout the different stages. The canvas started white, but the first few stages went too quickly to stop and take pictures of.

And, the finished products! I would highly recommend this if you ever get a chance to. I am not creative or artistic, but mine turned out fine!
