Frosty Relay
We have been deep in review this week in preparation for our end of semester district assessments next week. We are finishing up our algebra unit, which is SO hard for 7th graders. Putting letters in math makes such a mess of things! The negative sign was bad enough...now letters...
In honor of the frigid temps on Tuesday and in celebration of a much unexpected 2 hour delay, we made a game out of our review and had a frosty relay.
I divided the students into groups and had 9 mini problem sets made up. Each group had 4 people numbered 1-4 and each problem set had 4 problems numbered 1-4. So, they had to solve their assigned problem each time and then come get the problems checked. If they were all correct, they got to draw one part of Frosty on their poster and then get the next problem set.
It was a fast paced, fun review that they really enjoyed. I had a few students who were more concerned with perfecting their Frosty than doing the math. Of course these were the students who needed the review the most, but, with some insistence, I got them back on track and everyone had a great time!
We didn't have enough time in any class to complete Frosty, but we got some pretty awesome looking snowmen throughout the day!
