Haddon James: A Year and Three Quarters

You are almost 2! I can hardly believe it. This age is just so much fun!

You are in 18 month clothes, size 5 shoes, and size 5 diapers.

You are still a great sleeper! You take one nap in the middle of the day that averages out to 2 hours usually. Unless you're sick or just having an off night, you sleep all night! You did go through a little regression where you just wanted to play instead of sleep. You wouldn't snuggle or rock with me. I could usually distract you with a toy. A ball or a tractor were you go to and you'd play in your bed until you gave in. You also have become a big fan of "blocks" (Magna Tiles). You'll sit and stack them over and over again. We usually know you're awake now because we hear them clicking together.

You can not resist a nap in the car if it's anytime around 10am or later. Thankfully you'll usually still nap even if you get a morning cat nap in the car.

You officially stopped nursing since my last post. We were down to just one morning feed. I was pretty much ready to be done, but wasn't sure how I was going to cut you off without a huge battle. At the beginning of April you had a terrible cold. On top of coughing so much, you couldn't breathe through your nose. You got so frustrated trying to nurse that you just cried and cried. The next two days after that, you pushed me away so I thought we were done. Then the next day, you wanted me to sit in the recliner with you, but I was able to distract you with books. The next morning you wanted to nurse and asked for milk as you tried to pull my shirt up. You cried when I told you it was all gone. So I let you try to nurse. You sucked like three times, unlatched on your own, and wanted to read books. That was it!
You're a pretty good eater! You love sweets, especially "nandy" (candy)!

We spent part of spring break at the beach with the Hodges. It was cold, but we all had fun!

You have discovered videos on the phone. You love to watch tractors. You usually get bored with it before your timer goes off and will get down and go back to playing.

You and Kinsley are quite the pair. Sweet and feisty together!

You LOVE to be outside! We had to put bungee cords on the gates in the back yard because you kept escaping. Little run away! It's not uncommon for us to find you playing by yourself in the back yard. Life of being the third kid, I guess! I just keep a close eye on you as I get things done inside.

You love to go on walks!

Sunglasses are a new favorite thing! You're so cute in them and you actually keep them on!

I have to come running when you start heading for the third level of the playground. You can get up there, but you can't quite get down on your own yet.

Summer has officially begun and you LOVE the pool. "pash pash!" (splash splash!)

Jax and Truett are your favorite woof woofs. You don't see Allyson without immediately asking her where Jax is.

You were the ring bearer in Josh and Allyson's wedding and it's likely that you were the cutest ring bearer that there has ever been!

You did so good walking down the aisle! We weren't sure what to expect, but once you got going, you walked right on down!

We're on summer break, which means you finished up your first school year staying with Mema.
You are a BIG fan of Papa! (the feeling is mutual)

Chloe always wants to snuggle and hug. Sometimes you slow down enough to let her.

You've discovered Q-tips. You love to get them out, touch them to your ear, and then throw them away...or put them back. haha

You are talking so much! Hearing your little voice and listening to you talk is so fun. I try to record it as often as I can. Some of my favorite things that you're saying right now are:
What that?
Where it go?!
Where Papa? (at work) Oh!
Uh oh!
Nonuts (donuts)
Up down! (while doing The Wheels on the Bus motions) (You like playing with the Tonie Box)
Why
Hey Papa!
Come on Mama.
Thank you!
Otay.

You're growing so fast! I love watching you, but would be ok if time would slow down just a little. You're the sweetest and have started giving the sweetest hugs.
We love you, Haddon James!
