May is always a fun month. The weather gets warm, the days get longer, and summer is so close you can taste it!
This month:
Stephen started playing church softball...he's having a blast playing first, making some awesome catches, and a few embarrassing errors. :)
Stephen visited Newspring, a large church in South Carolina, and also got to tour Crossroads where we'll be headed for student summer camp in July.
The Summit in Durham has a church staff retreat every May in Asheville. Some of our student ministry friends stopped in for lunch on their way home and it was so good to see them!
Mother's Day weekend
Cecelia spent the weekend with us for Mother's Day and we had a great time. We spent Saturday in Boone, eating at our favorite cookie place, exploring Blowing Rock, and having dinner at Outback. Then Sunday after church, we went to Grandma's for lunch.
All of the moms with their babies:
Cabinets & Flooring
The house is coming along quickly. Floors and cabinets are in as well as the driveway!
Boone 31 party
Mom had a 31 party in Boone at Steph's this month. An afternoon spent with my favorites is always fun!
United
Stephen organized and hosted a huge united worship service with a lot of the churches in the area. Our friend Austin came and made this video for us.
SWAGRRR Day
Taking a day off in May with testing so close is usually frowned upon. However, when I found out one of my favorite events at Carrington was happening the weekend we were already planning to be in town for a wedding, I asked off and my principal was gracious enough to let me go. So, I got to spend the day at Carrington at SWAGRRR day, their huge field day where they recognize and honor good behavior. I got to visit with all of my favorite students and colleagues. It was a blast!
Wedding
Kelly's sister, Amy, got married that weekend. Anytime a childhood friend gets married, it's always a fun reunion. She had a beautiful wedding and I had a blast catching up with old friends and snuggling Cameron!
Bachelor Party
Stephen got to go to Coulter's bachelor weekend that weekend as well (we crammed as much into that weekend in Durham as we could!). They had a blast at the Bulls game Friday night and playing laser tag Saturday.
The Cove concert with mom
For Mother's Day Allyson and I got mom a ticket to see Mark Schultz in concert at The Cove in Asheville. It was such a fun night out with mom! The Cove is beautiful and Mark did a great job with the concert.
Pa's induction
Pa got inducted into the Wilkes County Hall of Fame and we couldn't be prouder!
Voyager's graduation
Stephen got to go back to Durham to watch some of our students from Durham graduate. Stephen said leaving them for their senior to come to Morganton was the hardest part for him. He was so excited to get to go back and see them graduate!
Testing begins. End of year tired is in full effect...
It wouldn't be May without testing and a major countdown until summer break!
We bought a new couch for our house! This was the main "big ticket" item we needed in terms of furniture so we took full advantage of the Memorial Day weekend sales and got us a new couch!
Although she wouldn't let us throw her a big party, I can't let the month end without recognizing that Grandma turned 80 this month!
Bring on June and summer!
