I told them they had to give me 45 minutes of reading and working on their Language Arts work individually and silently. Once that was done, they could work together on the rest of their work.
It took them a while to get settled, but once they did, they were quiet and worked for 45 minutes. I kept my promise and let them work together the rest of the afternoon.
We had a pleasant surprise after lunch and got to go in the gym to run out some energy.
Then, once their work was done, I let them get on the computers.
Having mini goals throughout the day made it go much smoother. While they worked, I got all of my grading for the week done and all of my planning for next week done!
I've had 6 boys and 2 girls with me today. When I mentioned to the boys that we were going to the gym, they turned into hyper little puppy dogs that you had just asked if they wanted to go on a walk. They started running and jumping and shooting imaginary balls in the air. The closer we got to the gym, the more the excitement built.
The only downfall was coming back. When I left for 2 minutes to get the laptop cart, one of the boys sprayed a bottle of Axe. Why do middle school boys think they need to spray the whole can of Axe?? Ugh...it's terrible.
Now that all of my school work is done, I'll spend tomorrow sleeping and reading!
Happy Friday!
