Chloe Grace: A Year and A Half

This girl has grown so much and is talking so much more in the past 6 months.
She is a huge momma's girl right now!

^But still gets super excited when daddy gets home!^

She is 26 pounds and 14.5 ounces (92nd %tile) and 32.5" tall (74th %tile).
She's wearing 18 month and some 24 month clothes and is in a size 4 (some 5s) shoe.
She has 9 teeth.
She sleeps 7-7 with a 2-2.5 hour nap each afternoon, but is super flexible if we're out later than 7. She sleeps with 2 animals now. Sometimes she snuggles them and sometimes she throws them out of the crib. It still amazes me how she goes from zero to ten in no time. If we have to wake her up from a nap, it takes her no time to get down and run around like she wasn't just sound asleep. The same thing with going to sleep. She can be running around, full of energy, but as soon as she lays down, she's out in less than 10 minutes. She likes to rock for a few minutes before bed and asks you to sing "Jesus Loves Me" by saying, "Jesus" in the sweetest little voice.

Her vocabulary is really growing. She says "mama" all the time.
Other words she can say:
Stop, No (hand waving and all), baby, Truett, videos, popsicle, uh oh, oh no, outside, shoes, eggs, dog, llama, pig, deer, bird, Jax, bite bite, hey, bye, hi, hello, thank you, dada, bath time, ball, eat, water, bless you, shh, swing, hot, keys, please, more, rock, chip, one more...
Here's a video of some of our favorite things she says right now that we could catch on camera.

She is still a great eater, but definitely more picky than her earlier days. She loves pasta. She likes it plain, with alfredo sauce, and mac and cheese. One thing she's started doing is when we pick up bread in the grocery store, she wants a piece immediately. She'll sit and eat bread in the buggy until we leave. It helps keep her entertained for sure. Fruit is still a huge favorite.

She is still a little busy body and is great at entertaining herself. She loves to move things from one thing to another. One favorite right now is taking her magnets off of the fridge, putting them in a pot, carrying them over to the bench at our table, and moving them from the pot to the bench or her chair and back again. If I'm cooking, she wants a spoon and several pots and/or bowls on the floor to "help" me cook with.

She has started recognizing babies and will say "baby" every time she sees anyone who slightly resembles a baby (even if they're bigger than her). At first she was very confused when we told her mommy had a baby in her belly. Whenever we said it, she would look at us like we're crazy and then go get her baby. Now, she has a better understanding and will point at my belly and say "baby." She likes to point at Stephen's belly and say baby too...we're working on it.

She LOVES water! So she has loved splashing in her water table, playing in her little pools, as well as swimming in the big pool this summer. Bath time is also still a favorite.

Along with her summer love of water has been popsicles. She asks for them all day long.

Another summer favorite has been open gym hours at the gymnastics gym. She loves running around, jumping, and playing by herself and with friends!

She loves music and will stop and dance when she hears it or clap her hands.

She likes to wear sunglasses and hats now.

She still loves to be outside!

She will give hugs and kisses when you ask her now and will randomly come up and hug your leg.

She can point to most animals in her books when you ask her where they are. I downloaded an app called Peekaboo Barn. When I first got it, she loved tapping through all of the animals (it shows their picture, makes their actual sound, and says their name). This is how she learned to say llama. She would much rather watch videos of herself now, but every once in a while, she'll still tap through the app.

She knows dog, chicken, cow, and sheep sounds consistently.

She knows where her eyes, ears, nose, tongue, mouth, hair, hands, feet, and belly button are.

She has started wanting to hold my hand when we're riding in the car. Although it is super uncomfortable, it's so sweet.

She has started helping feed Truett. She carries his bowl over to where we keep his food, we hold it while she pours the 2 cups of food in, she closes the bin, then takes his bowl of food back. She usually takes it to where he is and tells him to eat and I have to remind her to take it and put it beside his water. Allyson taught her to tell Jax to eat a while back and she loves to tell the dogs to eat.

We ended this 18 month celebration with her first stomach bug. She had her well check and got a clean bill of health then woke up the next morning throwing up. I called the doctor just to see if I needed to do anything. When I told them she had thrown up 6 times in an hour and a half, they wanted to see her. Probably just viral, but they gave her a shot to make her stop throwing up. She is not a normal sick child. In between getting sick, she was playing like nothing was wrong. No extra snuggles for this momma. Since the shot, the only sign that she's been sick are her really nasty diapers. Hoping those end quickly and that the bug doesn't spread!

  1. What a great post and record of things! You’re so organized and great at this mothering thing! I hadn’t heard about the stomach bug. Hope you are all well now.
