A Day in the Life

A few people I follow will occasionally do these "A Day in the Life" posts. While it might not be super entertaining for readers to read, I like the idea. I don't want to forget these days at home with Chloe, just me and her. One day I know I'll enjoy looking back on this and probably laugh at the simplicity of it. I have soaked up this time at home with this precious baby girl and have loved every second!

This was our last "regular" day at home before I go back to work.

Thursday August 16th, 2018.

7:20 I hear Chloe talking on the monitor.
7:30 Stephen goes in to get her, changes her diaper, and brings her back to our room for some snuggles.

8:00 She plays while I eat breakfast (don't judge my chocolate muffin breakfast) and prep some of the purees I've made for her.

8:30 I feed her. (This time is different each morning depending on when she ate last. The night before she woke up at 5am so she didn't need to eat as soon as she woke up)
9:00 She plays in the Bumbo while Stephen and I tag team the dishes.
This particular morning she managed to spill Stephen's breakfast shake that he had just made so we also cleaned that up.
9:30 We tell Daddy bye for the day and she goes down for her morning nap.

I work out, straighten up the house, and start laundry while she naps.

11:30 She wakes up from her nap (this was a really good morning nap...usually it's only an hour and a half).
I feed her, switch the laundry, and get her dressed for the day.
Today we had peas. She ate them the day before and liked them, but today they made her gag so we switched to prunes.

12:45 We leave to run a few errands before her next nap.
1:30 She plays while I eat lunch (and Truett begs).

2:00 She goes down for her afternoon nap.
I switch the laundry and read on the deck (soaking up these last summer days).
3:30 She wakes up and Stephen comes home for a little bit before having to go back for VBS.
4:00 I feed her and we all play on the couch.

5:10 Stephen leaves to go back to church for VBS.
Chloe, Truett, and I go for a walk.
Our neighbors have some amazing sunflowers that have just bloomed so I make them pose for a picture...neither of them are too thrilled with this.
Truett was excited to get to play with his friend Harley though.

5:45 I start dinner...trying to get as much done before Chloe gets fussy for bed

6:15 Chloe's favorite part of the day...bath time!
6:45 I put Chloe to bed for the night and fold the last load of laundry (with the cutest laundry helper around...especially now that he doesn't steal all of the socks anymore) while I finish dinner (multitasking at its finest)

7:30 I eat dinner and watch Friends.
(Stephen is still at church for VBS)
8:00 I take a shower and start winding down for the evening.
9:00 I pump and hang out with Stephen for a little bit.
9:30 Bedtime for me!

If you made it this far and are interested, here is A Day in the Life post I did a few years ago.
School is still pretty much the same routine for me, but I might try and do an updated "A Day in the Life" post now that I'm at a different school and teach a different grade.

...and I just read through that post and laughed (4:45 alarm!)...this definitely needs to be updated. And this is why I'm going to love looking back on these one day!

  1. Aw, you will love having this to look back on! For me, I blocked all the newborn memories so I just remember it as pure chaos. I think by the 6 month mark things were good or at least better. I should do one of these Day in the Life posts...seems like it would be too boring...but I did enjoy reading yours!
