Vacay

Y'all. It has been 2 years since we've been on a "real" vacation. A "real" vacation to me always includes the beach. Our schedule got super busy last summer and any extra funds we had went into our new house.

However, Stephen was wise and didn't let another year pass without helping me get my toes in the sand.

We mentioned a while back to some good friends about going to the beach together. We were slack and dropped the ball, but thankfully our friends didn't. They jumped on it soon enough that we were able to work out a date and agree on a place to stay.

And then everything else just fell into place. Steph, Laura, and I try to take a girls weekend to the beach every year. Coordinating dates with us can get complicated fast, but it worked out perfectly that they met me down at the beach at the end of our week with everyone else so I got a week and a half!

We ate out the night we got there and the very last night, but every other night we cooked in. Each couple took a night and one night we all pitched in and helped. It worked out great!

We had a great relaxing week: we slept in every morning, took our time getting to the beach (hello sun everyday!), laid on the beach all day, napped in the afternoon, ate dinner together, and stayed up late playing games and hanging out.
We played putt putt one night...winning couple got free ice cream.

Enjoying the sunset after our putt putt game.

We spent an evening in Beaufort enjoying the sunset and admiring all of the boats.

One night we went to the pier before another round of ice cream.

Stephen got to go crab hunting one evening.
The last night we were there we got to witness a crazy storm pass through with some insane lightning!

Then, all the boys and their wives left and I had a day to explore the island while I waited for Steph and Laura.

Unfortunately our days with just the girls were filled with clouds and rain, but we still had fun.

And the rain left this awesome rainbow for us to enjoy which was much prettier in person.
Here's to hoping it isn't another 2 years before we make it back to the beach!
