...this if you're a teacher
"You need not tell my daughter to sit down."
When discussing ratios and students are given this problem:
Sam makes 7 liters of fizzy orange by mixing 3 liters of orange juice with 4 liters of soda on Friday.
On Saturday he makes 9 liters by mixing 4 liters of orange juice with 5 liters of soda.
Do you think these sodas will taste the same or differently? Explain
You might get these responses:
"It depends if you put it in the fridge or not. If they're cold, they will taste better."
"I do not like orange or lemon drinks so it doesn't matter."
"Just buy orange soda that's already made from the store."
"It depends how long the soda has been left in the fridge."
Everyday at lunch:
"Can I have your banana?"
"You know the Black Plague is still around. It kills around 11 people every year, but only in Texas."
