They decided to bless a young married couple in the church and invite them to live in their home while they were gone. They would only be responsible for the care of the home, their cat (most importantly), and the utilities. AKA no rent or mortgage.
This couple jumped at the opportunity and lived in the home for over a year. However, the husband is on staff with the North Raleigh campus and his wife is a nurse in Cary. With a one year old and another baby due in December, the commute from way out in North Durham to North Raleigh everyday was taking its toll.
So, they approached me and Stephen about living in this home. Initially, it was only going to be for 6 months or less. Yes, no rent for 6 months would have been amazing, but not quite worth completely moving out of our apartment only to have to find another apartment 6 months later. So, we turned it down.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances and sick family members, the owners of the house have had to come back to the states (out west) for a few months to help with some sick family members. Even though their original two year dead line is almost here, they wanted to fulfill their full commitment in Kenya. So, they are going to be gone until next fall.
When we found out we could live here for a year, possibly a little longer, we crunched the numbers and decided it would definitely be worth it.
So, here we are in "our" new home!
Allow me to show you around. :)
The living room
Dining Room...right off of the living room
Kitchen...check out all of the counter space!!
The office
From the other corner of the office, looking towards the stairs, front door, and living room
Guest bathroom...colors and decor original to the house :)
Guest bedroom/man cave
We didn't hang a lot of pictures, but Allyson made a good point. Most likely any guest we have is pictured in this photo so what better place to hang it than over the bed in the guest bedroom?!
Any and all guests are welcome!
The master bedroom
Master bathroom
And, to save the best for last. This is probably our favorite spot to hang out...especially now that fall has graced us with its presence!
Most of the furniture (except for our bed, couch, and dining room table) belongs to the owners. There is a third bedroom upstairs that is currently housing everything else of theirs they left. We have SO much space and are really enjoying it.We haven't seen the cat yet, but are getting close (we think). Stephen heard her eating the other night while he was in the living room watching TV. He tried to slowly go in to see her, but she got back out the cat door before he got a look at her. However, she's getting braver, coming in when one of us is still awake. The owners are coming to visit in December. If we haven't seen her yet, hopefully we'll get to meet her when they're here! Even though we haven't met her, this is Toroak.
Please come visit! :)
