My husband did not surprise me with a sweet and romantic staycation Friday night at a local bed and breakfast.
He did not go so far as to pack for me and meet me at school as I left on Friday to whisk me away for the night.
I was not slightly disappointed when he proudly told me he had canceled my originally planned activities for the evening that I really was really excited about.
I did not have to pray for help to show excitement and appreciation for this awesome date night.
One of my love languages is not quality time.
Therefore, I did not convince my oh so sweet husband to still allow me to have my plans and go with me.
Those plans did not include sitting in a crowded coffee shop with some of my best girlfriends.
I did not realize half way through the evening that my plans could have easily been skipped out on for this awesome date that was of course not planned so carefully for weeks in advance.
I did not have to apologize later and tell Stephen that I think I'm not the best person to surprise...I'm clearly so great at being spontaneous!
I mean, honestly, what kind of wife who has had a super busy summer and start to the school year turns down a quiet evening in with her husband at the end of the first week of school in a super nice suite at a bed and breakfast?
Obviously, not this wife.

If it makes a difference, I'm glad I got to see you. Even if it was only for an hour or two :)
