I can't believe I forgot to write about the quotes of the week...they are good this time!

From one of my boys in my literacy class who could probably be classified as a genius...before he asked this question...He reads computer program manuals for fun. He asked me Thursday morning how to spell register. So, I spelled it for him and then he asked, "Now, which one is the 'g' again?" Meaning how do I write a g? Oh genius 7th grade boy who doesn't know how to write letters...

From one of my African American boys: "What are those spots on your arm?"
Me: "The white ones or the brown ones?" (I have some sun spots on my arm and it looks like little white specs on my arms sometimes)
Him: "The brown ones."
Me: "Those are freckles."
Him: "Oh. I don't have those."

I had my hair pulled back one day this week, which I don't often do. So, many of my students were commenting on it. One asked if I was going to wear it like that again tomorrow. I explained probably not because I would have to take it down and wash it. We then got into a conversation about how I have to wash my hair often or it gets really oily. Then, I hear from the back of the room from one of my boys: "That's a lot of shampoo!"
I had never thought about it before, but he's got a good point!
